New Balance

New Balance is one of the world’s major sports footwear manufacturers with facilities in the United States and the UK. One such facility is in Flimby, Cumbria where the Liverpool Football Club shirt sponsors have been manufacturing since 1982, making around 28,000 pairs of shoes per week.

When the need arose to change the aged lighting in a number of areas in production, Harlec Lighting was commissioned to provide a cost effective and efficient lighting design. The brief was to improve lighting levels considerably with as much monetary and carbon savings as possible.

The existing 1800mm twin fluorescent luminaires were changed for LED linear fittings providing an increase in lux levels of over 40% and a saving of approx. 52% in energy, cost and Carbon. Added to the savings is the fact that the luminaires have a 5 year warranty and are maintenance free with no need to replace failed tubes and other components.
